Red Scarf Girl - Post #1 - Caroline Lopes

Red Scarf Girl

2. What is the cultural and educational background of the author and how did this background influence the book?  In what ways do the events in the books reveal evidence of the author’s world view?
Cultural and educational background of the author influenced the majority of the book. The event of the book is China’s cultural revaluation. That is what inspired the author to write this book. In the Foreword and in the chapters Destroy the Four Olds and Writing Da-zi-bao are some parts of the book that give a lot of the “cultural revolution” example in China. This book is a autobiography. Ji-Li Jiang wrote this book in order to show a part of her life that really marked her and changed the way she look at things. There is a site that is all about the author Ji-Li Jiang and the cite is really interesting because it has a “home" that are some images and quotes she said. Then there is a biography which has some information about her and the awards she won. After biography their are “Ji-Li’s books” which are the books she wrote. There are more things she did in her life in the bottom part of the site. The site is www.jilijiang.com.
If you want to know more about the author you should check the site out.
