How did historical events influence the ideas in the novel?
What cultural issues may have influenced, challenged, or inspired the author?

The historical event, The Chinese Revolution, influenced the novel in a variety of ways. It influenced the entire setting of the book. It influenced the life of a young girl. Her whole world was changing to accustom to the revolution. One of historical events that influenced the book was the Four Olds which was, ideas, culture, custom, habits. Along the book I have since a lot of changes all based on the Four Olds. These Four Olds mean that China was changing from old hobbits to new ones.

In the book, Red Scarf Girl, there  are many cultural issues that inspired the author. One of the cultural revolution that inspired the author to write an auto- biography was events that occurred in her life in the revolution. A big thing that really impacted the story was the Four Olds. Along this book Jiang-Li-Li has seen what used to matter not anymore. Throughout   Red Scarf Girl you can see the struggle that Jiang-Li-Li faced by all these changes happen so quickly.
